Sun Tan Soltan

This close-up picture of my sun cream came out really well, thanks to the magic of macro. And i really like how the deep colour of blue in the backround is conflicting with the bright colour of orange in the foreground. Also i like how the sand has stuck to the suncream it make it seem like it is quick sand and this lotion is about to be absorbed into the sand in an instant!

Relaxing in the Sun

Right, before you ask yes i did know this person, im not that sort of person alright?!!No i decided to take this photo because it showed how relaxed and chilled she was to lie in the blistering heat. I like how you can see where the sun is as it is the brightest on her body even though it is in b+w . And that is why i took it in b+w as her skin looks much smoother and softer than in colour, and her bikini was black so this highlighted this factor. And i took it at her level as looked better rather than taken from a higher level, almost looking down on her, i dont think it would have looked the same.

Blue Skies on the Beach

Now i know that this picture is out of focus and many will ask "what on earth is that?" but i really like it. But when i first took it i was not happy as it had not focused properly, so did not have the desired effect which i wanted. Then after a few minutes looking at it i decided that it was a keeper! I like how u cant see things as clearly as you may be able to, but you can clearly make out all the things evident at the beach, eg. the sunburnt tourists, the cloudless sky and the scorching sand, you just have to look slightly closer and take a few minutes to see what is actually going on.

Coffee Morning

These coffee beans, in the reataurants coffee machine was worth a picture i thought. I like how they are so tightly packed in that they have taken the shape of the actual machine as they are slightly sloped at the backround of the picture. I decided to take it in b+w as it represented the coffee beans a little better in this way. Also i like how i managed, not on purpose, but to take it at a slight angle as it feels very different. However when i was taking it i got a lot of funny looks from onlookers with my head burried in the coffee machine, not a lot of people had coffee after that im sure!

Mischievous Meerkats

These very inquisitive and mischievous meerkats presented me with this very nice and cute photo of themselves. However it took maky attempts to get these guys to stay still as they are very nervous and on edge all of the time look and sniffing for any potential enemy! But i finally managed to capture them with at least two of them still but the other blurred-typical. But after sniffing and looking at me very closely and after they had sussed out what i was they quickly scurried off and burried underground not to be seen for another few minutes. So this photo was very lucky to get but i do like how is eyes are illuminated and looking straight down the camera.

Beach Side Lights

Turns out i found playing around with the lights quite fun! And yea another photo here (yes it is the last one like it) but this time by the beach and the faint glow of the beach huts beside the sea just invited me to take this experimental photo with the lights. I like how the contrast of the very dark nights sky is very conflicting and very different to the light shining beacons of the beach huts.

Merry`s Go Round and Round

This picture of a merry go round at night was also taken with a slow shutter speed to create the same effect. I really like how the lights have been slowed down from them being slightly blurred because fo the speed in which it was spinning, furthermore i like how the lights have been slightly reflected on the carousel aswell. And they are pretty fun!

Physcadelic Lights Man

I took this picture at night of the lighthouse and was just sort of experimenting with the light to be honest. I do not have a tripod so taking decent photos in the night can be extremely diificult as they can be very blurry and distorted. However i decided to play with this fact and thought that this bright green lighthouse could make for an interesting photo. The way i managed to do it is put the camera on a very slow shutter speed so that it can capture all the possible light and then move it in the direction you can see the light has been refracted whislt taking the photo, and hey presto wierd lights dude!!!

Any Fish Love??

I took this picture by the green lighthouse and in the backround you can just about make out the othere lighthouse but red this time, and um anyway decided to take it as this french couple were "debating" more like arguing about which bait would catch the most fish!!! I placed the camera on the wall as the wall seemed to follow them around. Also i like how you can see the bags of very small fish which they had caught-appertifs??

Le Petit Phare

Next to the port is this extended walkway out to the green shining beaken that is the the phare, or lighthouse to you and me! The very large lighthouse gave me an idea to make it look very small, and putting this small pillar infront of it does exactly that. (i hope)

Mystical moss

This picture shows the bench i was sitting on when watching a few tennis games in a lunch break beside the clay courts. i liked how this moss was a very yellow colour and seeed to be almost like a blossoming flower compared to the boring grey normal moss you see everywhere. But behind it out of focus is the old metal seats you could sit on if u wanted to watch a very popular game, and a few of the courts behind it aswell.

Clay in Sables

Whilst we were working at the zoo we managed to stumble across these fabulous clay tennis courts right next to the zoo irself!!It was a magical find and whilst on a lunch break we signed ourselves up for a tennis tournament for the ages 15-18. For me it was a joke because i hardly play any tennis at all however rob plays a bit of tennis and he was doing really well, and we were kind of like the wild cards of the tournament especially cos we were english as well! But as rob was getting ready for his 5th game (which he won) i took this picture as the light and clay looked fabulous in the scorching sunshine and the large range of colours aswell made for this nice picture.

Singing by the Ivy

After taking a break from looking at all the sleeping animals at the zoo i decided to take a break, relax and see what pictures i could take from the position i was in. And i really like how this picture came out, sitting beside the ivy flowers this little girl singing in french from this sheet of paper made it easier for me to frame her completely next to the ivys. I decided to take the photo in a sepia tone as it lightened the picture and made it seem very old, and much better than in colour anyway!

Enjoying the Meerkats

I took this picture on the first look around the zoo and i liked how these people look upon the meerkat were very enquistive and very quiet alomst the same as the meerkat itself who seemed to be on tenderhooks all the time. Furthermore i like how many things in this photo are very vertical as the meerkat itslef is standing upright just like the people and the trees as well, it creates this underlying pattern which you can distinguish thorughout the photo.

The Remblai

This picture just gives you a sense of the atmosphere and the type of place we were staying. We wern`t staying in these appartments but just behind them, very close to the beach. And i took this quite early in the morning so i managed to venture out into the middle of the road without being hit by any loony french drivers!! And the red pavement you can see on the right of the picture is the "remblai" as its known and stretches for ocver 3 miles alongside the beach and is used by all and is a really nice place to just chill out and enjoy the beach as was often the case!

Work Experience in the South of France

These next set of photo`s are all taken from when i travelled to the South of France for Work Experience for two weeks. Rob and myself had managed to sort out accomodation ( 3 mins from the beach!!!) and work in the local zoo in Sables D`Olonne in the South of France for two weeks. The weather was absolutely fantastic for this time with not a cloud in the sky and blistering heat for two weeks, the people were so friendly and so accepting (especially at the zoo) and just had an overall magical time, so umm yea i just hope u enjoy the pictures and the update as i haven`t blogged in so long! (sorry fiona i was thinking of blogging all the time i was out there, honest!!!!)
